The Bridge 9 program is designed to create a smooth transition from 8th to 9th grade at West Bloomfield High School. The program will aim to (1) build the work skills, study habits, and self esteem needed for high school success, (2) build positive peer relationships and the capacity to work collaboratively with peers in an academic setting, (3) build a positive relationships with adult faculty, (4) learn and reinforce academic content in skills in the area of English Language Arts and Math through the creation of an inquiry-based project in both disciplines, as well as completing Compass High School (on-line) modules in these two disciplines.
Through a blend of hands-on, motivational, and field experiences students will have a fun, focused summer experience that will excite and prepare them for high school.
The capstone experience will feature a week of SuperCamp at the end of the program further developing essential work/study skills and a sense of self-efficacy.
Students should bring a bagged lunch and beverage each day. Free Shuttle transportation provided to and from Roosevelt (6:40am departure), Scotch (6:50am Departure), Ealy (6:45am departure) and Green (6:55am depature). All shuttles return at 2:15pm daily.
